2 Timothy 1:1–8 CSB
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by God’s will, for the sake of the promise of life in Christ Jesus: 2 To Timothy, my dearly loved son. Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. 3 I thank God, whom I serve with a clear conscience as my ancestors did, when I constantly remember you in my prayers night and day. 4 Remembering your tears, I long to see you so that I may be filled with joy. 5 I recall your sincere faith that first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and now, I am convinced, is in you also. 6 Therefore, I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment. 8 So don’t be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, or of me his prisoner. Instead, share in suffering for the gospel, relying on the power of God.

The Mission

We seek to nurture each person’s faith journey through joyful worship, supportive fellowship, and active outreach ministries, so that all may experience the deeper peace of God in their lives.

ENCOURAGEMENT

-Free endowment from God through Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit.
-Paul encourage his spiritual son, who is now a Pastor leading a congregation is having difficulties: opposition from within the church. Maybe Timothy is experiencing a feeling of discouragement, and re-grate.
- Paul says Timothy “ I am praying for you day and night” (A friend praying for his friend)
- Timothy’s faith is sincere
-First lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and now, I am convinced, is in you- Connect his faith to his family

How Do we Rekindle the Gift of God?

Remember- sometimes that reminder can come through people who love us, our fellow believers, friends and most importantly the Word of God.
Act on the Gift- whatever measured of faith we have received from God, we must act on it in the face of fear and intimidation from the outside or right within the church. Rev. 2:5 “Remember then how far you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. Otherwise, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.”
HOLD ON- TO- TRUTH- to stir up the gift of God in you, you don’t need a “increase of faith”, as the disciples as Jesus in our gospel reading. You need the courage and self-discipline to hang on to the Truth and use the gift received when we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and saviour
